Welcome to the Day of Purpose, Teen Edition, Orientation Page where your part matters! On this page you will find activities to orient participants and coaches to their part in leadership development.

Following Footsteps

On The Day of Purpose, you will hear a story that takes place on the beach. If you have ever walked along the seashore or on wet sand, you’ve probably noticed how easy it is to leave footprints. If you could guarantee that following in the footprints of someone else could get you to where they are in life, who would you follow? It would probably be wise to follow someone successful.

The Bible says, “Because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps” (1 Pt.‬ ‭2‬:‭21‬, NIV‬‬). The Day of Purpose will help you learn about footprints, blueprints, footsteps, and examples that can get you on the path of success. There is a part you must know and understand to make your life successful. Want to discover how that part matters?

Making Prints

Social media and activities on the Internet can play a part in making you aware of how your image matters. Just like walking on the seashore, your online actions are leaving digital footprints that create an image the world can see. Complete the activities below to see if you like what others see if they search, find, and follow you.

What Do You See?*

Video: What’s in Your Digital Footprint?

  1. Watch the video and see what the following images have to do with having a digital footprint:
    • a lighthouse
    • a copier
    • a whisper in the ear
    • a stadium and a jumbotron
    • a permanent marker.
  2. Describe in one word how you feel knowing that everything you do online is stored and can be searched for, shared, or even broadcasted.
  3. Explain what you think it means to have a positive digital footprint.
