Goal Setting
To humans belong the plans of the heart,
but from the Lord comes the proper answer of the tongue. (Prov. 16:1)
"Proper preparation is a prerequisite for participation." This was a statement that I coined after studying the way that the Lord showed us how to think during our time of vision planning. At the beginning of this year, our church family and affiliates at BFM were given the challenge to set goals for the year and prayerfully consider the paths that our lives will take for the new year.
In our focus in FBI sessions, we have set out to analyze a biblical approach for setting one's course for the future, focusing specifically on Numbers 13-14 and how God prepared His people for the Promised Land. The challenge to FBI scholars is to complete the Vision Assignment with the following guidelines:
Find out God’s standard position on the eight areas of vision development by selecting a Scripture that reflects God's view.
- Spiritual Position
- Personal Relationships
- Personal Health
- Personal Career
- Personal Academic Pursuits
- Personal Investments
- Personal Finances
- Family Relationships
Answer the following questions for each of the areas of vision development:
- How do you see your present status when lined up with His standards?
- Are you happy with your status?
- What are the things that you want to do to bring you into alignment with God's standards?
- Are there ways that the Church can help you?
- Has God been saying anything to you recently or consistently about this area?
BFM Members may request a copy of the vision planning sheet from the Church Office. This assignment is included in The Principles & Power of Vision (pp. 227-230) and Study Guide (p. 124) by Dr. Myles Munroe.
