“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13)

Did Jesus have a fair trial? Was He innocent or was He guilty of a real crime? By the judgments of the Roman leadership, He was innocent (Matt. 27:23-24). However, the religious people of His day desired to find Him guilty of something, and they wanted Him dead (Mk. 14:63-64). The Bible shows that false witnesses were even brought out against Him (Mk. 14:56). Unfortunately, despite His innocence, the Roman government still allowed Him to be executed (Mk. 15:15). Clearly, the religious and government systems of Jesus’ day were broken.

Though we change governments many times in our lives, the world is still the same. Why can’t we realize?” are the words of Dr. Myles Munroe that he sang with the Visionaires in the famed song, “Brand New World.”

Benefits of Change 2In Dr. Munroe’s teachings on change, as found in the book, The Principles and Benefits of Change, he explains four dimensions of change. To paraphrase, these types of change include the following:

  • Change that happens to us

  • Change that happens around us

  • Change that happens within us

  • Change that we make happen (initiate)

(Munroe, 2009, p. 16)

In the seasons of change that are upon us in the 21st-century world, it can be easy to get confused and worried about your future. Do not let the enemy confuse you with evil around you to make you forget the goodness that God promised those individuals that seek to follow His principles.

Jesus did not complain about the corrupt government or religious leaders, though He did not agree with them. He brought our salvation by laying down His life! God planned to bring this change, and Kingdom living is the plan He has for you. Come to Jesus Christ!

Recommended Research Activity:

Consider how the principles of change apply to Jesus’ death. Jesus was aware of the changes that were happening and what these changes were doing to humanity, especially among the people of His earthly birthplace. He knew the systems were broken. Instead of complaining, He became an agent of change.

What type of things need changing in your life, family, workplace, community, or country?

Read Isaiah 9:2 and Matt. 4:16 and see how God planned for Jesus to bring a great light in the deep darkness (Is. 9:2; Matt. 4:16). Lift up the change you need in prayer and confess God's promise to bring light into darkness.
